Volunteer with Wild Roots

Join our community of nature-lovers, educators, and changemakers. As a volunteer, you’ll support our mission to provide inclusive, Montessori-inspired, nature-rich learning for children ages 3–13.

About Wild Roots

Wild Roots is where Montessori philosophy meets outdoor exploration and community transformation.

We pair liberatory education with nature-based learning to create spaces where every child — especially those often underserved or misunderstood — can flourish.

Our programs intentionally serve neurodivergentBlack and Brown, and LGBTQIA+ children and families.

Why Volunteer With Us?

  • Empower children through nature-based learning. Help foster curiosity, confidence, and belonging in our outdoor programs and camps.
  • Support an inclusive community. Wild Roots is deeply committed to equity — serving neurodivergent learners, Black and Brown children, and LGBTQIA+ families.
  • Make a meaningful impact. Your time helps grow a liberatory, connected learning community.
  • Flexible ways to contribute. Volunteer during summer camps, field trips, seasonal programs, or behind the scenes — whatever fits your availability.

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need teaching experience or a background in education?

Nope! While we love having experienced educators, we also welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your care for kids, and your passion for nature.

What are the requirements of Volunteers?

Wild Roots requires volunteers to complete a basic background check and orientation.

Will Volunteers ever be required to manage groups of children on their own?

Nope! Volunteers provide supportive help during the half-day camp but are not responsible for the direct management of children or program operations. Their presence enhances safety, connection, and joy—especially during transitions, free play, and group activities. Volunteers will always work under the supervision of Wild Roots staff.
