About Wild Roots
We know that choosing a learning environment for your child is deeply personal. Whether you’re curious about summer camp, homeschool classes or micro-school classes, or a field trip for your school, thank you for trusting us. We see our work as a partnership with families and caregivers, and we’re committed to building a community where all children feel seen, safe, and free to thrive.
Our Mission and Vision
Mission Statement: To cultivate a love for nature and a sense of environmental responsibility in students through immersive, hands-on learning experiences that integrate science, art, and outdoor exploration.
Vision Statement: We envision a future where every child has the opportunity to learn and grow in nature, developing the knowledge and skills to become thoughtful, responsible stewards of the Earth.
At Wild Roots Nature Based Learning, our values ground everything we do. They guide how we teach, how we lead, and how we show up for children, families, and each other.
Our Core Values
1. Connection to Nature:
We believe the natural world is a powerful teacher. Time outdoors nurtures curiosity, resilience, and a sense of wonder. We strive to foster a deep relationship with the land, recognizing our role as caretakers and stewards.
2. Whole-Child Learning:
Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, we honor the intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual development of each child. We trust children to be active participants in their learning and support them in becoming independent, empathetic, and capable.
3. Community & Collaboration:
We cultivate a strong sense of belonging. Children, families, and educators work together to create a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment. We believe in shared leadership, open communication, and mutual respect.
4. Equity & Justice:
We are committed to creating liberatory spaces where all children can thrive. We center underrepresented voices, challenge systems of oppression, and strive to make our programs accessible, affirming, and responsive to every family we serve.
5. Curiosity & Creativity:
We believe that learning should be driven by wonder. Whether it’s building a fort, painting with natural pigments, or exploring ecosystems, we encourage open-ended exploration and imaginative problem-solving every day.
6. Care for Self, Others, and the Earth:
We teach children to move through the world with care—care for their own well-being, care for their peers, and care for the environment. Through small acts of kindness and stewardship, we build a more compassionate future.

Our Curriculum Philosophy
Our curriculum is guided by a blend of Montessori principles and lessons, nature-based education, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) integration. We prioritize child-led learning, hands-on discovery, and real-world application. Lessons are woven into the environment around us—from tracking animal signs to engineering stick bridges or painting with clay pigments. Every experience is grounded in respect, curiosity, and the belief that children are capable of shaping a better world.
